Torque converter stuck on flexplate???

I am going to change bands and clutch plates on my rover P6 3500 (BW35). The torque converter seems to be stuck on the flexplate . I was wondering has anyone else seen this? I have removed the four bolt holding it on and when trying to remove the box the TC remains in place . The problem is that the box is getting caught in the body because of the length of the shaft

The spigot on the converter can seize in the metal bush in the back of the crank.

Remove the gearbox from the bellhousing first, then remove the bellhousing, then remove the converter.

I had come to that conclusion also. 4 of the 6 bolt holding the gearbox to the bellhousing look easy to remove. The other 2 on the bottom are very tight to the sump. i might weld a socket onto a dogleg type bar to remove.

The bottom 2 bolts are awkward. I have a short 1/2" AF combination spanner that I have bent so it fits perfectly. In fact I have a few as I keep losing them, then finding them again. Bend the same way that the ring end bends, and about halfway along, then it will clear and lay around the bellhousing..
