HOLDEN.

GM announced this week it is killing off the brand forever.
Real, as in Aussie manufactured, Holdens ceased in 2017. Now they are just killing off the remaining (200+) dealer network and making Head Office staff redundant.

Difficult time for us. My folks had 2, a 53 FX and a 56 FE.
We had an 80 VC Commodore SLE and an 84 VK Calais (must admit the QC or lack of it made that our last Holden though I had been tempted in more recent years.)

Commodore 64 all the way for us back in 1985, love that, it had a snazzy tape drive the lot and later... we got the 1510 floppy drive for it too
but what about this Rover 800? only 500 left in the UK!! who had one? it must count as a classic Rover

Does anybody know how many Rover P6 are still roadworthy? Where is this information about the declining numbers of survivor cars obtained from, DVLA?
I recall Andy 'Gus' Robinson used to drag race a funny car based on the body shape of one of those Rover 800 Coupés in the mid '90s. Haven't actually seen one of those on the road in yonks. When I lived in Germany there were a few saloons from that series still running, badged Sterling for that market. Never liked that naff grille treatment though.

Hi, The numbers probably come from the 'howmanyleft' website but it's generally acknowledged to be unreliable.

I'm not at all surprised about the Lada numbers because there was quite a market a few years ago where they were being repatriated back to Russia and Eastern Bloc countries because they were better equipped.

A Holden Commodore is a car, not a Commodore 64. Keep up.

It is unreliable. We've counted a lot of the P6 sections within that website up, and there are a lot more cars that we can confirm are on the road.

I think Holden lost their way and stopped being a reliable, affordable working mans car. Australian workers in general have lost their blue collar pride. NOT THE KINGSWOOD! XD

I've owned a string of Holdens, but never bought one brand new....maybe it's my fault? LOL

Driven plenty of them, all work cars, would NEVER have bought one with the knowledge gained in driving them thru work.

Just cant imagine why it took so long for buyers to wake up that there is more choice out there other than Ford ( which I did own a few of) and Holden.

I don't think that Holden lost their way. More likely that GM made decisions without understanding what Holden and Ford has meant to NZ and Oz for many decades.

Pretty much the same as with Saab and it's customer base.

The saying 'The price of everything and the value of nothing' springs to mind.
