To the Austrian Alps and back, a 1000 mile cruise

To celebrate getting my TÜV (German MOT) last week, my missus and I hopped in the 3500 and motored down from Berlin to the scenic Austrian Tyrol. My car progressed happily at Autobahn speeds between 70 and 110mph for five hours, effortlessly overtaking even on steep mountain inclines, and was a joy to drive. Lots of wind noise at high speeds, and the fusebox began to melt when we were in the Alps, leaving me with only one working headlight, but hey, it is 44 years old, things get decrepit past 40!

Very interested in your suspension mods Sir. You say you are running 130% higher springs and 2" lower. To be clear on this, you mean +30% and the spring length is 2" less because your ride height looks fairly normal to me.

How is this affecting the ride overall? I'm guessing by modern standards it is still fairly "soft" given the tyre profile.

The springs are stiffer than stock, and shorter. Seen next to a standard 3500 the difference is obvious. The ride is great. I chuck it about if I'm in the mood, or waft along when I'm so inclined. I just put four new Vredestein Classic tyres on and that improved things. All together it works as a package. Smaller steering wheel and PAS makes a big difference over standard wheel and manual steering.
