Thumbs up to DVLA! Cherished number retention.

I've been running my '67 TC with a cherished number RTA 666, but I have to sell the car. (Arthritis in ankle means I have to drive auto now)
I duly logged on to the DVLA website to discover what I needed to do to retain the plate.
Wow!
10 minutes later I had completed the process and all I need to do is refit the original plates.
It cost £80 but even that is the same it has been for a fair number of years now.
An oddity is that although DVLA send an amended V5C you don't get a changed MOT but that's not really any problem as the VINs are the same.
It really couldn't have been easier - I am most impressed.

Not a bad service but if there has been a gap in the mot or tax history in the previous five years it is painful and has to be done with paper forms

Having said that the delay is normally only ten days or so

just reread your post. The number is cherished not the car. Sorry.

He's removing the number and selling the car, so your suggestion of converting to auto is valid, apart from the narrow tunnel of the manual cars making an auto conversion very difficult
