Throttle linkage HIF 6 Carbs

HI, Having an enormous problem after servicing my HIF 6 carbs for my 3500. Working my way through, using the manual and the instructions with the service kit, all went well until I tried to refit the camb return spring. It just refuses to sit right and is trying to escape. I've located each end in the correct position but to no avail. I even took photos beforehand. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated as this has stopped my rebuild in its tracks.

'Camb return spring' - ?? Choke cam that lifts throttle? Have you dismantled the other carb? If not compare how its spring is fitted. Mine seemed to go back too easily, and thought it must be wrong, but everything works and returns as it should. Will try to get my pics of the springs up here.

Hi Steve,
I feel you pain.
I recently rebuilt my HIF6 carbs and fitting the spring was probably the most challenging part.
I assume you are talking about the spring on the butterfly spindle.
When you say it refuses to sit right, is it trying to pop off the spindle?
I’ve attached a photo of one of my carbs taken during strip down and you can see the spring pushing itself away from the carb body. Is this the issue you’re having?
When I reassembled mine I ended up using a small flat head screwdriver to hold the spring against the carb body to overcome this.
Fiddly but manageable.
Can you post a picture or two showing the problem.
Cheers,
Paul.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Managed it in the end, it was the seal cap on the starter spindle which was fouling the spring, didn't notice this at first, all sorted. Both carbs done.
