The View From The Windscreen

I thought that it might be a nice idea to post some photos looking through the Rover windscreen. A view that we can share showing our part of the world and what we see.

So to start the ball rolling, here are some photos from New South Wales, Australia.

The first three photos are in the town of Orange during Autumn 2011.

This photo is along the Lachlan Valley Way heading towards the town of Cowra on Monday just gone.

And finally a view of the instruments taken just after the above photo.

I look forward to seeing your photos through the windscreen.. :D

Great shots Ron. Those first three could be England in September.

I have a few interesting view from the windscreen shot and possibly a video too - I'll have to have a dig around on the other computer later.

Thanks Paul... :)

Orange is around 860 metres above sea level so it snows there in Winter and the Summers are cool to mild with temps in the mid 20s most of the time.

I look forward to seeing your pics!

Cool to mild, lol, you mean a brit heat wave!!

yes heard about the recent heatwave, we certainly live in changing times, our last 2 summers in CHCH NZ have produced a multitude of days where the temp has exceeded 40 degrees peaking at 43.6 this year and a 44. somthing last year If this is global warming I am all for it!! this winter has been so mild hardly a frost and most night time temperatures well above the Zero mark.

Have you got some photos that you can post up Graeme? I have never been to New Zealand, so seeing some of the sights as you and your Rover see them would be great.. :)

Ron.

Will do Ron, but most of them may well include earthquake affected scenary ie shonky roads and falling down buildings in fact I will make a point of it

This is what i saw this afternoon on the way home from work. Starting from Veria, i drove through rural areas near Vergina, then i joined the Athens - Thessaloniki motorway, entered Thessaloniki and drove through the old sea front to arrive home.

This is a typical summer view, however, during winter it can be quite different!

Hello Rich,

Autumn 2011 has already been,...in the Southern hemisphere. It is Winter here, Summer where you are... :D

Excellent pics gents,....

Demetris, great scenery... :D How far is your daily commute to and from work?

Ron.

dear ron, good point batman wasnt awake enough to realise that!doh best go back to school, and ive got to get a better camera , i use my mobile for taking most of my pics ,anyone recommend a good mobile that is good for pics and video please, good luck rich

Thanks Ron...
It's typical in Greece to watch the scenery changing completely while driving within a rather short distance. There's a bit of everything really.

As for my commuting it's a little more than 50 miles one way. I have the option to use only motorways, which shortens the distance a little, and the time a lot, since i can drive significantly faster.

Unfortunately this will be the view out of Wild Rover's windscreen for some time to come :(

Still, I am enjoying all of the other photos - I am familiar with the British and Irish scenery (still love the countryside), but it's really interesting to see different parts of the world, and especially to see them as I never imagined - I had no idea that it snowed like that in Greece; and Ron's pictures make me want to get down under - can wait to see Graeme's NZ pics...

In similar vain to So Cal V8's (happy Independence Day BTW), I couldn't resist posting this for a laugh. Surely, the most boring view from a P6 windscreen? With any luck will be back on the road soon and try to post something better.

The Fourth is almost over - but in keeping with the spirit of this thread I will post some pictures of my neighbourhood celebrating July 4. I won't do it here cos I don't want to highjack Ron's thread - I think this is a great idea and I am looking forward to seeing more pics here.

I also think JVY's view out the windscreen trumps mine :)

As promised earlier. Not quite a view from the windscreen but you get the idea.

These were taken on the MSA Classic Rally in 2007. We started at York and drove along some great roads with loads of other classics.....

Apologies for Jane's giggling comentary (I have to live with this!). She didn't quite get the view down the bonnet more the view over the windscreen wipers, but it was a laugh and even though I was doing about 80mph down the straights it felt soooo slow.

made me giggle, anyway its pronounced 'sure' side, by the river suir, looked lIke suicide to me!RICH

Christchurch city views.
For the observant you may see evidence of Felis sylvestris catus imparing your view.

Great idea Ron! I've been wanting to go somewhere interesting to take piccies but it's not happening so I took some on the way to work and back today for a start. I live in West Auckland which is known for being quite lush and green and a bit more laid back than central Auckland so...
This is New Lynn, a shopping hub but not too busy. Lots of roadworks, not because there's any quake damage, just because the council likes digging up roads.
P7080025.jpg

Typical suburban street in Green bay. It's winter now so some of the trees are bare.
P7090026.jpg

Titirangi rd, main road to the trendy suburb of Titirangi, an expensive, cute and bushy area with nice cafes. Mostly populated with greeny yuppies. And a few old hippies and alternative types that have lived there for years.
P7090027.jpg

Just about home. This road has a cool sweeping 'S' bend that can be fun if you're not stuck behind a nervous driver. Just on the other side of this bend is a house that has had at least 3 cars land on their roof in it's front yard in the last few years!
P7090028.jpg

Same road, a bit further along with fabulous views looking north. Gives you a bit of an idea how hilly Auckland is. It is built on an isthmus between two harbours and around about 50 volcanic cones.
P7090029.jpg

Close up from the same spot. Looking out across Kelston to the Waitemata harbour.
P7090030.jpg

And almost home. The top of my street with a similar view from our kitchen. Looking out across Glen Eden and Oratia with the Waitakere ranges looming in the background.
P7090031.jpg

There is a road that runs through the entire length of those ranges and I will try to get some pics from there soon, and maybe some of Auckland city too.
