The View From The Windscreen

We're getting that weather tomorrow! Nice steady drive and a suitably moderate speed. Makes me want to visit Greece right now. I wonder if it's feasible to ge a P6 across Europe at this time of year?

I think that the temperature forecast for the next days will make you change your mind!

Why not? The main motorways are usually kept open ... well... the worst does not happen too often!
I had to face this (and a little worse) today because i was on a minor road and ... i overtook the gritter about 20 miles before; for obvious reasons!
I also carry a pair of wheel socks in the boot, but until now there was no need to try them.

From my hospital bed in Sheffield last week I could see a nice covering of snow on hills out towards the peak district, think that lot came on Friday.

A flurry this morning but not enough for doughnuts in work's car park ;)

Not from the windscreen but the passenger window, doyouthinktheysawus drove past these this morning thought it would be an intresting pic?

Not long one the 400 unfortunately... Nobody is interested even at scrap money. Half way through emptying the petrol tank before it goes now... The 800 is lovely inside couple of things worrying me on it, smelly exhaust the expansion tank and the starter has misbehaved a couple of times and leaky alloys....

The p6 is making me smile a lot at the moment... Lovely and quiet unless you hit the loud pedal. Lot of wind noise over about 50 and occasional sticky tappet on a fast run but otherwise brilliant. All the niggles fade out once you're moving :)

We recently took a trip to California wine and gold country - so here are a couple of snaps taken on the road. I have really been enjoying the pictures from all over the world, and I hope these pictures of California give you a better idea of the State.

The first is taken from the bottom of the Grapevine pass - it is looking back towards the Los Angeles area. The car park we are in is notorious for the smell of burnt, and burning truck brakes - on the way down we saw one truck buried in the runaway truck ramp - good times!
This is the preserved western town of Coloma - site of the discovery of gold in California that sparked the 1848 gold rush.
The one lane bridge built in 1915 over the South Fork of the American River.
A view down the road to Lake Tahoe.

I've also been enjoying the shots from across the bonnet from all parts of the world... Here's a contribution from sunny South Africa, where I've just spent three weeks. Got to stretch the legs of the old V8 a bit, making a trip not only to a motor museum in Franschhoek (wine) valley but along some great, bendy coastal roads southeast of Cape Town past Betty's Bay and then inland to Greyton. In total maybe a 400 km round trip.

And while the national routes tend to get noisy and tiresome to drive, the country roads help bring the P6 into its own as a cruiser. Window down, elbow out, mind the baboons 8)

Wow!
Stavanger.... now there's another destination on my before-I-die list.
You can forget Maldives and Seychelles - I want to see the real natural beauty spots in this world!

Wow and wow again, that is truely beautiful!
With a little discernment one could make a calender utilising pictures from across the bonnet.....Just a thought...

But a very good one! I like the idea of a bonnet shot from 12 different countries across the world. I reckon we could probably manage that between us as well.... England, Scotland, Ireland, USA, Canada, RSA, Aus, NZ, Japan, Norway, Greece, Netherlands.

Good idea! Pretty easy to make as well, if you're a graphic artist (of which there are a couple here!) or own a Mac and can use iPhoto (should be a few more!)...

Well I'm the latter, but have a friend who is the former (not sure how good he is though!! :) )
If we did it, I suppose it would probably be better to do it in conjunction with one of the clubs. The P6 Club's ordinary magazine is about the right size/finish, etc for a calendar, so their printing facilities might be good. They could also help get exposure to enough P6 owners to buy them and justify the outlay. There are loads of us on here, but there must be so many more P6 owners who aren't (practically every P6er I speak to in the North West has never even heard of the CRF!)
