The View From The Windscreen

Nice new ride Al, my uncle had a Series 1 while my grandpa had the Rover.

A couple of the guys at work have about 6 or 7 XJ's between them! (one's a double six... but with a Chev 400 V8)

Lovely evening here with spring feeling well under way so I took Foosty out for a bit of a run along the water front and grabbed a couple of views from the windscreen along the way:

I like the way this thread is keeping going, lots of great pictures being posted.

Here are a few from my recent trip to the Cotswolds.

Oh dear! Glad I overhauled the wiper mechanism earlier this year. This is on the outskirts of Chipping Camden, a very pretty town even in the rain.

And on to the High Street.

Keeping the thread going, although nothing as good as the pics posted by Paul - and not out the windscreen of my Rover, but...

I had to be in downtown Los Angeles for work early one morning last week. I was in the carpool lane enjoying the view of downtown on a clear day, when I though it would be an excellent idea to try and take a picture while speeding along...

You don't often get to see LA like this - usually you can't see our surrounding mountains, and sometimes you can't see downtown until you are only a couple of miles out. This day was a beautiful clear day - we usually get them after heavy winds or just after the rain. The rest of the time there's a sort of a haze that reduces visibility.

If I had been quicker I could have turned the camera to the left and taken a shot of the Hollywood sign - something else you can't usually see from where I was; oh well, next time...

Hi Rich,

Good question - Los Angeles is in a geographic basin, we are surrounded by mountains on all sides - except for the side with the pacific ocean, and as such it's a natural trap for pretty much everything. My understanding is that smog is not a new phenomenon, apparently it was present due to the fires from Native American settlements long before the white man settled the area. Because of the geography, it really is possible to surf in the morning and ski in the afternoon - I confess to never having surfed, and it's been a while since I skied, but I could if I wanted to...

On the way home from a Rover club event October last year.
And yes, it was Holland!

Sorry about the quality, I only had my telephone to take the picture

Following up on my theme of not from a Rover, and in this case, not through the windscreen - just a quick flavour of my local area on a cold and rainy January afternoon...

Me and my BFF (yea, the missus) scived off for the day and sank a few glasses of bucks fizz (called a mimosa here) followed by one or two well deserved Irish coffees - this was where we ended our afternoon. (The marina at Seal Beach/Long Beach)

I have finally got the car back on the road and went out for a test drive. This is central west New South Wales in the Waroo area, west of Forbes

Just the next day I was on the road out to Pomona, a town in Los Angeles County and this is the view from the windscreen on my non Rover.

On windy days and days after the rain, we typically have pretty good visibility - because of the storm we had snow in the local mountains, and it was clear enough to see. The photo is going north on the 57 freeway, I think the mountain with snow on it is Mt. Baldy

I love Southern California 8)
