Hi All

I saw this and had to share it with you all.

Two traffic polcice officers from North Berwick were involved in an unusual incident whilst checking traffic on the Great North Road (A1). One of the officers was using the hand held radar device to check the speed of a vehicle that was 'cresting' the brow of a hill. He was amazed when the recorded speed was over 400 mph at that point their radar stopped working and the officers were unable to reset it. This was then followed by a deafening roar as a NATO Tornado fighter shot overhead. The Tordado had been on a low-flying execise over the border district and the police radar had locked on to the fighter by mistake.
The incident was reported back to police HQ and the chief constable fired off a stiff complaint to the RAF liason office. The reply came back in true RAF style:
Thank you for your message, which allows us to complete our file on the incident. You may be interested to know that the tactical computer in the Tornado had detected thebpresence of, and subsequently locked on to, your hostile radar equipment and automatically sent a jamming signal back to it. Furthermore, an air to ground missile aboard the fully armed aircraft had also automatically locked on to your equipment. Fortunately the pilot flying the Tornado recognized the situation for what it was, quickly responded to the missile systems alert status and was able to override the automated defence system befor the missile was launched and your hostile radar installation was destroyed.

Oh Goody Goody! I want one! And the Aston DB5 to conceal it behind the grille! Come to think of it I can think of a couple of people I'd willingly test the passenger's ejector seat on as well!
