The Guvnor

As anyone who follows my travels on Facebook will know, The Guvnor was delivered to Mr. Catboy yesterday. Eventually did a 240 mile trip as I had to go to Essex first on another job on the way. She behaved impeccably all the way up, with only a previously unobvious airlock in the heater meaning my feet got cold for about 20mins to report.

Final assembly and finishing were very hurried due to time constraints, and she was filthy dirty by the time she arrived, but she will be nestling in her lovely double garage now.

I'm in recovery mode, hope The Guvnor has now had a full valet :)

It is great to hear that this glorious motor is now with its owner... I can only imagine how happy Mr.Catboy must be...!!!!!!

I am really looking forward to seeing this story continue as I am sure there is plenty more to come

How is this car now it is back in its new home?!

Has there been anymore research with regards to its Police history and fixtures and fittings?!

It'd be great to see a few more pictures of this really very unique P6

Well the Guvnor is currently in bits awaiting collection for its respray!

Regarding its history I have a contact who was in regional crime, However I'm yet to speak to him.

When I get some more info I will let you know.

Any news on this superb looking 'slag-catcher'...!!! It was great to read of its re-birth and the discovery of its history so I'd be very interested in reading more...

Hi,

Well the Guvnors completetion has slowed down somewhat, as my wife and I now have a beautiful baby girl :D .

However the reality is there is not much more to do on the car.

The bonnet and all near side panels are back from the sprayers and on the car awaiting the window frames to go back in.

Should have all the other panels back by Xmas.

The sprayer has done a fantastic job, the panels look great, he stripped them all back to bare metal and all panels are solid apart from the rear valance which needs repairs due to holes.

I had the roof rails off and found a lot of surface rust which was taken back to bare metal then painted with epoxy mastic.

All the inner wings sills etc have been coated in bilt hammer wax oil and it's great stuff with very good reviews.

With regards to the police kit, I finally managed to get the correct whitworth 100 bell and also the correct met spec radio aerial.

All the Police kit has now been fitted and it was hard work getting the bell, air horns and compressor to fit in such a tight area, however it's done and I'm pleased with the result.

Just need to get them wire up now but have tried them with temporary wiring and they sound awesome ( the air horns are very loud! )

Fingers crossed she will be back on the road for spring and I intend on doing lots of shows in 2015.

Hello there sir...

I do hope the bambino is fit, well and making you work hard?!

How's the car coming along...?! Will it be out and about for the summer? I do hope so...?!

If you get a chance do please let us know how things are going with 'The Guvnor'...!!!

Hi Grifterkid

Our little girl is very well thank you and keeping mum and dad busy!.

As for the Guvnor she's all back together and looking rather grand if I do say so myself.

She's booked in with Annabel's for an MOT and some other little jobs early April so should be patrolling the mean streets of Leicester soon :D .

A chap called me about doing an article on the car when she's back on the road so watch this space!

Will try and post some pics this weekend.

Cheers Lee

Hi All

Finally got the Guvnor back on the road with a fresh MOT.
Really pleased with how she's turned out, there's still little jobs to do but they can be done as and when just need to get driving her again.

Hope to see you all at some shows this year!

Hi Lee,

Have to say, the car looks fantastic. I never used to be a fan of Avocado.....but I've been convinced!

Hope to see you out and about...either in Leicester or at a rally or two.

.....the correct whitworth 100 bell.....

Sorry, I appear to have donned my anorak....the correct name for the bell manufacturer is Winkworth. (I'll get my coat! :))

Stan

Thanks Stan, quite a few people have said they love the colour!.

Re the bell, the earlier smaller bells on woleselys/jags etcwere made by winkworth the later larger bells fitted to p6s and land rovers were made by whitworth so I'm told.

Took the Guv'nor out today with my 7 month old girl and one of the carbs starts chucking out petrol from the overflow.
Manage to get to my mums then get taken by the AA to Derby.

Big thank you to Clive Annable for taking the time to meet me down his workshop at 6.15 on a bank holiday weekend!!!
