Thanks to you all, and ( more or less ) goodbye

Sadly , this is a farewell, as tomorrow my S1 2000TC is being traded for a 3.5 Coupe . I have enjoyed my re-acquaintance with the 2000 after a gap of 43 years, but now I am older I have found it too heavy for me, particularly the clutch and also to some extent the steering when parking. Thanks to all of you who helped, advised, and in some cases sent me parts. The help was enormously appreciated. Good luck to you all, and Happy Rovering !

I think most P6 owners share as much love for the P5 as the P6, just a question of availability and garage space.
This forum may have a lot of P6 owners but I dont doubt many of them also have P5's

I agree with many of the speakers here.

This is the Classic Rover forum which to me (personal opinion), means all Rovers upto and including SD1 and the non Honda-rebadged ones. So the 75 would qualify for me too.

The P5 was the one that drew my attention to the brand in the first place and the only reason why I bought a P6 instead was that I felt the P6 was more suited to my everyday motorway run from Amsterdam to Leiden at the time.

The P6 seems to be dominant on this forum but that's just because there are more left. But I'm sure that almost every P6 owner likes and respects the P5 as much.

So do stay and, of course, post pics of your new love :).

I have both p6 and a P5b, at one time i had a 3500s, 2200tc, SD1 vitesse and the P5b coupe. Always room for something interesting.

Iove them both but my P5 is loved by everyone who sees it.

You will be very welcome in the P5 club forum. It has a great archive like we have here.

And price :(
Jim.

As promised, a few pics of my new P5B . The photos are as so often a bit flattering, with a considerable amount of work to be done, mainly of a detail nature ( and the electrics are a bit of a mess which should keep me out of mischief ! )

Nice car and a great colour combo.

With regards to the electrics. Clean up the fuse box and buy a load of new snap connectors. You will find dirty and corroded bullets in particular behind the passenger A post trim panel, there is a a load of them packed in and the p5 tends to let water drip on them.
