Hi after replacing my rear wings I seem to have no brake lights replaced bulbs checked fuses and power is getting to brake light switch.Could anyone tell me how to determine that it is the switch thanks dion.

HI DION,
IF YOU HAVE REMOVED THE WINGS, THEN FIRST OF ALL CHECK YOUR EARTH WIRE, OFTEN AFTER REMOVING AND RECONNECTING THEY WILL NOT WORK, WHICH IS USUALLY DOWN TO BAD EARTHS. CLEAN THE BULLET ( BLACK WIRE ) AND WHERE YOU PUSH IT IN ON THE SIDE OF YOUR BASE UNIT WITH EMERY OR SIMILAR AND SPRAY WITH AN ELECTRICAL SPRAY. HOPEFULLY THAT SHOULD DO THE TRICK.

I occasionally have trouble with the pressure switch not working on mine, I usually have to give it a little tap with a hammer (usually having been stood for a few months), and it works again. Worth a try if you don't find an earth fault.

I found reconnecting the bullets a bit of a pain in the past because the colour codes on the wires didn't match up.

Like Ian says make sure the earth is connected up well.

I found two ways of checking the lights are working ok. oviously you can get an assist to press the brake pedal and see if any of the lights come on. you can put on the side, reverse and indicators and make sure they work.

The other way is to find the connectors for the rear wing. put on the side lights. if you work out which one is the side light you can then plug in the other wires from the lamp unit. if the brake light comes on then the switch could be faulty. if it doesn't then check the bulb and the wires.

I hope this helps you to find the fault. You could also short the two wires at the switch.
