Taking responsibility, both as a club and as a supplier

As per above; should clubs bar suppliers who consistently receive complaints from those they supply?

I've asked Joseph to comment. He's declined and says he is not doing parts anymore.
I bought a few items off Joseph last year, and although he was VERY late on delivery the items did arrive.
But he is fibbing when he says he is not selling parts. He has several items for sale on the federal rover Facebook group even as I type. He is young, and been though a lot having lost his dad so I would give him some slack, but he does need to learn the deliver on his promises. Having said all that, I'm not the one that's been had for £100.......

Our conversation was this:

cheers mate
Me:
If you're sure. I like to give the supplier a right to reply
Joseph:
Yep, cheers

I can't say i think it sounds healthy, and I do worry for him, but I have too much in my own life to worry about to get drawn in.

Thats a shame to hear Joseph wants to chuck the towel in. I think he is a bright young lad and will go places.
When I look back over my 68 years , Ive madesome terrible bloopers. All fixable with a little tail betwixt the leg stuff.

Ive lost a bit of bark along the way , but hey, isnt that what life is all about
If Joseph is reading this - keep at it sport - the apple doesnt fall far from the tree. Your dad was a lovely man as Im sure you are.

Newbie here; 8yrs on from this topic.
Over the last 2 or 3 yrs I've noticed a marked increase in Postage charges from suppliers both 'Amateur' and 'Professional '

Looking at you Rimmer Bros!!

Not to mention numerous ebay and Fbook sellers.
I mean MASSIVE!
£70+ for a 2kg item - does it get its own business class seat and free champagne?

Also there's the practice of accumulative postage for multiple items.gtf.
Then we get to VAT
It's not up to me to claim it back
Goods sold overseas...in my case, to Australia...are, as far as i know, still VAT exempt.
Good mind to drop HMRC a line
Aaaargh!
rant over.

Are there such things as UK based parcel forwarders??

I ship a lot of gear around the country, and the EU. 5 years or so ago I could ship a pallet to just about anywhere in the UK for around £40, but now it's more like £65-70.

I just sent a 6kg box to Germany which cost me £48, so £70 to Oz I would think was just about correct.

I ship a lot of stuff domestically here in the states and, internationally (mostly eu). Costs vary massively these days. I’ve stopped using the US Postal Service as reliability and lost packages have become the norm over the exception. Using third party solutions to ship via both UPS and FedEx have turned out to be pretty cost efficient. Plus they seem to have a good handle on constantly changing tariffs and taxes (thanks to idiot doing dumb things in a White House somewhere in DC). I always try and be reasonable with costs and offer options if the client is in a hurry.

Just because you're paranoid etc, etc
I'm still convinced 'some' are loading the postage as a way to profiteer, but what can you do? The classic car parts market is the ultimate sellers market...you want it, I got it - where else are you going to find one?
