Please could anyone help me,Ineed to recalibrate the tachometer on my series one 2000tc.I understand this can be done at home without having to pay silly auto- electrician rates, apparently there was an article in the p6 news inoct 92 but Im afraid dont have that one.Would like to say what a great website and I think its great to hear other owners views etc.Ihave owned 25 of these great cars since I was seventeen I am now 42 and still have the passion for them.

Regards

Gary,
The gist of the article from Mike Russell of Bognor regis as printed in the Oct 1992 magazine was to connect another multimeter with tachometer scale or compare with an accurate speedo at 19½ mph / 1000 rpm in top gear. There is an adjuster screw under a rubber grommet in the back of the tacho' (which you need to remove, obviously).
Hope this helps.
Regards, John.

Thanks very much john will try that tomorow as I am going on holiday in the car on saturday, looking forward to loading up kids, bags, pram, etc, etc and of course the wife oops.Using the car for what they where made for to drive and enjoy.little tip for series one owners, the plastic surround that the indicator/main beam stalks come out of,which always fades to a horrible shade, get some black dubbing rub it in not to much use your common sense and watch it return to its former glory as if by magic. regards gary

Thanks again john tacho now sorted car filled up with unleaded and valvemaster plus ,and ready to roll tomorrow.Yes I also think it would be a good idea to put tips in the mag like always select third before going over into reverse helps stop gear crunch, put 30psi in all tyres helps when parking and you wont damage tyres etc with extra poundage been doing that for twenty five years never damaged anything yet.Take rear light lenses off if condensation has set in,then clean lenses and spray inside lense with this anti-mist stuff you can buy really works.just a few little tips will post more when back from hols regards gary

These are JUST the sort of tips that could help members.
Please, please, dear readers send me any or all of your tips for easier motoring in our cars and I will collate them with the view of submitting them to P6 NEWS for publication.
Many thanks in anticipation. Regards, John.

As John said, we're hopeing to have a regular "Highlights from the website" section in the P6 News, so all these tips etc will find their way there.....

Also I'm going to build a tips & tricks page on the site, to which I will add all these ideas.

Keep up the good work folks

Richard :D
