Suspension compatability

Currently rebuilding my 22tc, bit of a parts issue. Front springs are a bit rusty, can be blasted and painted but rather have new. The 2200/v8 springs are out of stock at the moment (170lbs) versus the 2000 (150lb) ones that are available, maybe someone can confirm, I thought sometime ago I heard these would not fit, but cant remember the reason why, or indeed if I heard right! I am aware 20lb less is not ideal but maybe preferable to surface rust springs?

Also I can get some front shock absorbers that are quoted as fitting 2000 2200 and 3500, however I have my eye on some GAZ GSA 344.

I CAN NOT GET ANY INFO AT ALL from anywhere as to whether these will fit a 22tc, "uuurrr they are made for the v8 mate, thats all i know"? but wont answer my question as to whether they will fit a 22tc if anyone can help me out with this, much appreciated

The springs will fit the 22, however, the suspension will be softer due to the lower spring rate. GAZ shocks are a decent make, plus they’re adjustable so you can dial them in.

no parts seller is likely to answer that question, how would they know? They can only go by the catalogs and fitment lists they have. Even if they think they would fit they are unlikely to tell you so in case you come back to them complaining the springs either don't fit or some other aspect about them isn't to your liking, and start demanding a refund or something.

They will physically fit, now whether you would want a softer spring is another matter, Modern tastes tend to want a p6 stiffer not softer sprung

Spring specs come in terms of free length and rate (lbs/in), as well as diameter for the seats. If you get the free length and seat diameter you should be able to ask a spring man to make one in almost any stiffness you want. In my clubbie I found that 175lb/in rears bottomed too often with 2 up and hardening the shock made it harsh, so had new springs made in 210lb/in, problem solved.
