Sure i've seen this for sale before

Doesnt look a bad motor... worth doing one of these than a standard car if you want to make a profit. I personally think they are bllody ugly. BUT if it were nearer id go and lokk and buy it if not too rotten in base unit. An interesting project for someone and a good investment.

I saw a pic of an SD1 estate the other day - that looked nice.

Is there any such thing as a nice SD1? Early Series 1s can be an ok motor to look at in a decent colour, but let down by dreadful interiors and by rot.

Series 2, 2300 and 2600 autos struggle to make £300! Is that any wonder? V8's make better money as people want the lumps. I would drive an early series 1 manual V8, as although in principle I think the SD1 is poor and inferior to the P6, earlys are not bad looking. BUT an early pulls in reasonable money these days in good nick, money i'd rather spend on an 3500S. Additionally my love of the SD1 is shown below about 6 months ago;

I think we all know by now that you don't like SD1's !

If Rover had got it together with an SD1 estate it could have been a rival for Volvo 740's and the big Merc estates

Not a bad looking car, designed by the original Rover team and slayed by the Leyland accountants. Dont get me wrong, I would love to see a resurgence in them, much rather see them on our streets than most modern motors. BUT they wernt a good thing really and a sad end to the Rover marque.
