Spotted for Sale - Very Pretty

Wonder why they decided to fit the series 2 side trim, or perhaps it had a full set of body panels from a series 2 ?

Nice looking car, regardless. Hardly original though if all the panels have been replaced!

Not definitive from the pictures, but those side strips could be the thin Federal 2000TC ones which in theory at least were an option available in the UK at the time this was built.

The doors are having the early handles so they cannot be from a series 2 car.
Also, in the factory manual (up to series 1 cars) there are instuctions and measurements on fitting this side optional side trim. So everything could be original.

Talking about originality, my 1970 2000 TC, being a German export model, despite being a series 1 car, has the series 2 door handles. And the doors are original, with the original rust at the bottom, and fixed rear quartelights to go with the flow through ventilation system.
However, the series 2 door handles are not chrome as usual, but polished aluminium!
Inside there is more head scratching...
The window winders and door opening handles are not secured in the usual P6 way with the wire clip. Instead they are bolted on the square stub shaft, like in the minis... I thought that this was a conversion, but the square stub shafts have no cut outs for the wire clip. Instead they are drilled and tapped. However, the car as i bought it came with crudelly drilled and fitted series 2 interior fittings.
Can anybody guess the original fittings on a series 1 German car? Rudiger perhaps?

cheers,

Demetris

It's difficult to tell, but they look more like Series II side strips to me Chris.

Still, lovely car.
