I want to fit a radio/cd player in the car but there are only two speaker fitting points, centre console and under the rear parcel shelf. My question is can you get hold of speakers for these points which will give good quality of sound.I dont want to have speakers on show as the local low life will nick them, and i dont want to cut my door cards if i can help it.
Thanks for any ideas.steve

I fitted a nice set of 100w Panasonic speakers to mine. They make enough noise to upset the neighbours.

I think they were 6 1/2". I would measure the hole to be sure. try any old car accesories shop.

last time I was in Macess (cash and carry for motor trade) I picked up 3 sets of 6" round speakers I think they were 70W, anyway you get plenty of volume out of them! and thats on an old AM/LW radio, which by the way, being mono, has a softer tone than FM so sounds nice !/

I'd avoid any adds for old stock OE spec speakers, or any out of old cars no matter what the seller says - chances are they will be naff.

The speakers I got, if I go again would be avaialble to you guys for around £15/set + postage - the are not an exact fit slight small but easy to get around... just pm me if you want them

I agree about the old speakers, if they've been in a car for any length of time the cones will almost certainly have gone soft, and the suspension material may be brittle.

New ones should be reasonably cheap, I fitted 2 to the sides of the centre console, but they were slightly on show (although not obvious)

Not exactly on topic but if you want to replace your speakers in the centre console maplin do a 6 inch speaker rated at 10 watts for £4.99 they are a perfect fit, and sound good with my 1970's am,fm,mw,lw blaupunkt radio :D
