spark plug comparisons

Hello all, I know that Champion L92Y is the recommended plug for V8s but mine was fitted with Bosch W6BC ones as i discovered when changing them, I have a set of Bosch W7DC that I bought supposedly for the Rover V8, But they are longer than the W6BC fitted, I'm scared in case I damage the pistons, Has anyone got info on plug comparisons please?, Keith.
 
L92Y are P5B/P6B short (1/2") reach plugs, if the others are Long (3/4") reach then they're for the SD1 and later engines and could well cause problems in heads that are designed for the short reach ones. You would need to look down the plug hole and measure the depth of the thread to see what heads your engine is fitted with.
 
Thanks for that Harvey, Not having a Champion L92Y I didnt know the thread length, guess I will be buying a set, Anyone want a set of long reach?, Keith.
 
L92Y's have 1/2 " of thread

You must surely be safe in fitting plugs with the same length of thread as those removed
