Some kind of fever

So, after living without a Rover for the best part of 30 years, I have bought my second one in two months
French Blue, NZ assembled, auto with AC. It will join the Mexico Brown one as my next decade plus projects.
Unless I buy another one next month....

I didnt know NZ assembled P6 were a/c. Is it integrated into the front consol or is an add on?

NZ cars came with a hybrid AC system. nearly all the non-cabin stuff is as per factory air they but use an aftermarket inside unit with a modified console

thanks - didnt know about a/c'd cars from NZ.
I imported an a/c P6 from Solihull because I wanted that option., and was told by the dealer in Perth [WA] that all P6 stock came via NZ except if you wanted a/c. That was in 72 though , so things must have changed.
My a/c is still performing well for 52 odd years. Its had one reco'd compressor in that time and does need an annual regas as its effectiveness does drop off in the time. Ive done it myself lately with a recharge kit from Supercheap auto.

What's the brand of your AC?

Hi pa747sp,
Mine is the factory a/c unit. I dont know what company they went with but it has a York compressor, which I was told is a very good unit when I had it rec-od a number of years back. I was asking him wether a modern compressor would be a better replacement instead of rec-oing mine.

My understanding is: the factory aircon for the P6/P6B was supplied by Delanaire in the UK with various aftermarket systems supplied in the colonies.
I have two NZ assembled P6Bs (1976 build). I have previously commented on the disappointing workmanship. So, please refer to the images of the firewall captured by myself during the restoration of my own vehicle. I couldn't believe my eyes when I removed a bucket-full of bog surrounding the hoses that passed through the firewall. Before and after pics. P1020935.JPGP1020947.JPG
