She's back and thank you...

She's had several issues over the past months...stuff that were mostly beyond me.
Sent her to Al last week and today I picked her up. She's all good to go. Al even gave her the
2 badges she had been without for years. She is running all so smoothly now with fuel tank
all cleaned up, reserve tap working, choke working, alternator working. And thank you to many of you
who have given a lot of advice too. She's not showroom conditioned nor is she perfect but she is much
more than that.

Several more things to tackle soon and will need help from all you guys...

- All four shocks need to be replaceds - I think Mark and Angie site has those
- Rear brake caliper and hoses - they are very tired
- Chinese fingers tool - anyone heard of this? There's a seal that is gone now which is why
engine oil leaks from the bell housing, all Al needs is this tool and things I can say goodbye to oil leaks
- New tachometer

From there...I can get her all polished to look as good as she can. And next is to clean her interior up.
Leather needs some work to get them seats to look good again. The leather is still very good as it was
re-upholstered in UK back in 2000.

I bought a chinese finger made by Lisle tools years ago. GM cars used rope seals right up into the eighties and they all need that tool to change it. If Lisle don't stock them other US companies should. Mind you it's a PITA to do on the aluminium engines as the metal tends to grab the seal so you wind out pulling it out in bits rather than dragging it around the slot. I've always wound up pulling the engine and removing the crank. having said that though, sometimes you can get away with just changing the bottom half and side seals in car so try that first (no need for chinese finger for that).

sometimes they stop leaking with use too of course - run it for a few months and you may find the leak miraculously fixes itself!

Hi Mike, this is brilliant. Thank you...made life easier looking for this tool. Can I confirm that this is the one?

The old sollihul self lubricating chasis system. remember if a 215 V8 isn't leaking oil, there's none in it!
