Series II Grill

In the general on going up keep of my car I've decided to spruce up the front end a little and the obvious place to start was the plastic grill and headlight surrounds.

I want to repaint the silver lines round the edges and I have a willing assistant with steady hand to do it so hoepfully it should come out ok.

Firstly though, I need to clean in all the nooks and crannies on the grill and that appears to be more difficult than I anticipated. I dunked it in a bucket of soapy water but found a tooth brush too big and a bottle brush not stiff enough.

So, has anyone got a bright spark idea for something that would work? Small enough to fit between the slats and but stiff enough to scrub the dirt out?

Don't know anyone who has one except the mother in law. Can't see her agreeing to that!
The misses still doesn't know I put my cylinder head and oil pump in the dish washer. :D Came up a treat! Just have to be sneaky. :;):

ASK!!!!
Its not going to be any worse than a greasy set of plates from sunday lunch!! :D
Its just like tupperware!! :D :D

I'll never forget mothers reaction when she came home and found me boiling a set of pistons in her best saucepan, so I could get the gudgeon pins out!!

What a lovely frothy, oily gruel that was

Mk1 Granada rear wheel bearings in the freezer made m popular as well

I know when I clean the ceiling exhaust fan grill above the cooktop I soak it in hot tap water (not boiling) adding about half a cup of clothes washing powder and let it soak for about half an hour and this breaks down the greasy residue quite well without any scrubbing, just rinse let dry and fit back in place, I suppose I should be the first to try this on my Mk II grill but its not that dirty...

Scott

I like the sound of that one Scott. I'll try it this weekend, it should provide some light relief from the rear caliper overhaul.

I got bored of scrubbing it with a toothbrush so I let Jane repaint all the silver edging instead. She made a neat job and it's neatened up the front of the car somewhat. She just needs to finish detailing the V8 badge now.

Just fitting some "rubber ring" sping assistors to the 800 for load carrying, and the fitting involves boiling them in a pan for 10mins. The wife was very impressed with the rubber smell throughout the house ! :D

Probably, they raised the rear of the 800 by about an inch, but more importantly it's a lot stiffer, we're going to france in it soon and I didn't want the back end on the floor once the boot's full of wine, sorry I meant luggage
