Series 1 V8 Seat belt authenticity

Can anyone advise the original seat belts that would have been fitted to a Nov 69 V8?

Grey Irvin statics ?

Inertia Reels ?

For the record it has black statics with a tongue and clip coupling. The clip part being fixed to the floor with a long thick flexable plastic covered wire like on the P5B

Any clues?

Thanks

Alan

Hi Alan

Certainly not inertia reels as standard, they did not appear until Series II.

We recently broke an early 1970 Three Thousand Five and that had the traditional Irvins in it.

Lyn Thomas was the seat belt guru at Rover at the time, and is very much still with us. I seem to remember he told me that they went over to Britax equipment in 1970 as a cost efficiency issue, certainly later S1's and early S2's have Britax statics.

Lots and lots of work was done, mainly for P8, in having the belts actually in the seats at this time. Sadly this never became a production reality with the axing of the P8 in July 1971.

Many thanks Nick, I was pretty sure they should be Grey statics but thought i would ask the experts.

See you at Whitewebbs on Sunday

All the best

Alan

I keep looking at the irvins and thinking how right they'd look in PAE... More pressing things to buy for it really, but one day... ;)

The problem is not everyone can get on with statics, the memsahib absolutely HATES them where as i quite like the feeling of security they give, allbeit at the cost of free movement.

each to their own...

In terms of movement, the Britax inertia reel belts in my car are quite a lot shorter than others I've used. To the point of almost needing to unfasten them if I drop something on the floor - driver's side. Are they usually that short?

Hello,

And french "bonjour", where I live.
I have a question some minutes ago (about "irvin seatbelt hook", I think) but maybe here :
I need a seatbelt Irvin, 3 points, static (not a "reel" - ?!? "= enrouleur" in french ?), preferably grey. Where can I find this object?

Cordially
