Series 1 3500 with 14" Rostyles

- a nice colour too -

- btw - those rostyles - bit confused as to when these were standard - were they so for that year?

- mine's an early '73 model with rostyles, but I was told they are not standard -

I like that alot, not sure about the shade of the arden green, but that looks like it could make a stonker of a car, :D

Rostyles were never standard in any market for the P6, they were always optional extras. Also I believe there are two varieties of 14" - those for the V8 are apparently wider. In later years many people have fitted P5 15" Rostyles which are quite different.

Does anyone know when they were available from and 'til? And what they cost? None of the option booklets I have seen ever mention Rostyles. I'm guessing they arrived in about '67 because the early US market TCs had the Magnum 500 wheels which I can't see them using if Rostyles were available. But were they available right to the end? Or did they suffer from BL costcutting?
The set I have supposedly came from a NADA TC but they are 5.5" wide and I'm pretty sure my Magstars are 5.5" too and they were a 4 cyl only wheel. It's possible that they took the 'Sports wheel' concept seriously. I have seen pics of an early TC with Rostyles that appeared to have less 'dish' suggesting a narrower rim but who knows if they were original. Could've been off a landcrab.

I understood that there were "5J's" & 5 1/2 J's", the latter of which seem to be the ones you have. :?

Hmm, yeah. That doesn't look too clever does it. Shame. All probably repairable if you really wanted to though no doubt.

I might be wrong but £800 might put many off due to that bulkhead. It'll probably end up being broken. Bruiser had a little bit in the same place but nowhere near as bad.

No tax or MOT, knackered carpets, curly leather seats (see original ad, not ebay one, leather faded and badly suffering from curly piping) with some rips (described as very good), rotting bulkhead and tea bag boot floor. Plus you cannot have a run in it, as the starter is toast! When it does run, it blows from the manifold?? Polishes up well, but has rust spots??

But a pretty car, with a nice set of boots .. will be interesting to see how it goes. Probably not £800 worth, plus the vendor is in the game (check feedback) Sold a V8 P6 lump a few months ago MINUS STARTER (engine might have been to go in this!!).

i offered him 600 quid for the car 2day but he wont budge from 800,it would be nice to see it go to someone who would restore it back to its former glory!Bri

Although I've not seen it I reckon it's a breaker. Hold on to your money!

I keep reading this thread and viewing the link each time, and the more I do the more I convince myself that this car was in a garage I know at least 3 years ago, if not more. The year, colour and Rostyles are all as I remember it, and it had come in after failing an MOT on rot all over the bulkhead area. My mate who owns the garage was in the panel shop at the same Main Stealer as I was, so is more than able to fix it if he so wished, but he looked and decided it was going to become far too involved as a viable job at normal repair rates, and so as he's not a charity he turned the job down, and it then languished outside in his yard for months, before finally finally disappearing.

Like anything, it's do-able, but only viable if you can do all the work yourself, and even then I'm sure there are better examples out there to use as a starting point.
