Selector rod bushes

Harvey when you say lowered do you mean split from the engine and dropped out, or just lowered from the gearbox mounts.

The rear gearbox mount has to be undone from the base unit, then the rear of the box lowered down until there is room to reach over the top of the remote to access the nuts to remove it. On a 3500S don't drop the engine too far back otherwise the driver's side rocker cover will break the petrol reserve tap.

Harvey my car is a 2000tc I have the drive shaft out, gearbox rear mount off and the gearbox lowered and supported on a jack but I can only just touch the 4 nuts
 
Have you removed the front engine tie bar from the front of the cylinder head? If you have then it is a stretch but it can be done.

Nope. The front tie bar is still in place, I will attack that tomorrow. I have just raised the gearbox up a tad to take the load off the tie bar. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks for the info

HarveyP6 success this morning. Gearbox lowered and although tight I did get the remote out. Yay. I have changed the x2 shaft bushes (591353) on the remote and I think I may need a new selector finger. See pictures below, this could possibly explain the gear selector rattling !!!!

Hi guys. I just got a 2200tc, Manual gearbox and it's very sloppy. So it's the first majjor job. I'll try to source all the parts first. What would be a definitive list of parts likely to need changing before I tackle it?
 
All or any of the following: Selector striker lever, selector rod bushes, gearlever spherical seat, and gearlever, that's about it for parts, but the gearlever retainers incorrectly assembled can also cause the same problem, so far better to look at the car before ordering parts.

AlSO check the lever end acorn (whatever is there) is a good fit in the selector shaft cup. in my car the bushes tended to slip out of their location - I got a piece of garden hose, slit lengthways slid it onto shaft such that it held bushes in place, tied with cable ties. Bushes have a flange on one side.

More on EBC Brakes. I've posted this channel before. Here Adam is fitting a new brake rotor and pads on his Jaguar XJS, and shows how to grease the hub Bearings properly. If you go back a couple of videos, he goes through the removal step by step. I will certainly be referencing it in the future...when I can afford those EBC's.
