:D just looking to see if any of my fathers old cars are still about, tobacco leaf 2000 sc BJD 364H and lunar grey 2200 sc MRR842P be interested if anyone knows of them :D

you could do a search on DVLA site and they'll tell you if it's been taxed recently or if they believe it scrapped - would be a start :)

DVLA can't find the 2000SC at all, which is odd - even long-scrapped cars should still be on their database. The 2200 hasn't had a valid tax disc since 27 years ago to the week, so you can probably consider it scrapped. Mind you, you never know... there's many a car still around that hasn't seen the road in a very long time! There's a guy at Practically Classic magazine who's just returned a Triumph 2000 estate to the road after over 30 years off it...

:D wow thanks lads, i definitely have the plate right for the H reg, i can remember all my dads old car numbers but this H reg i have an autodata manual and there is an old mot in there 8) i loved that car, we traded our DDA644C consul cortina estate in for it :D

All I'd say is do your homework and don't just bite the first one that comes along... Be thorough with your checking out of the vehicle ( difficult to do that from a different country...)

If you have questions about what's a problem and what's not people here are great for advice!

Rich.

8) cheers mate, i appreciate that, if you or anyone on here knows of a nice p6 for sale id be very interested :D

Hi lads and lasses, I've finally got me a p6 ! Arden green, 1 owner needs recommisioning, and the engines stuck, it's a 2000 sc, you may have noticed it on a large Internet auction site ! I collected it Saturday, first thing I did was remove the wings and sills and steam clean it, it was minging ! Now I've removed all the crap the condition is unbelievable it's a 1969 and the interior is beige and absolutely beautiful only normal wear on the driver seat but no rips or holes, I've got the engine ready to lift out today and I will lift it out tomorrow, then il open it up and find why it's stuck, probably condensation has stuck the pistons to the bores, it's only done 42 k, I'm very happy to say the least.
Anyway back to my workshop manual and il report back on here when I've made some progress
Geoff.

Hi and welcome.

Before you remove the engine, try freeing it off with some hot diesel down the bores and leave to soak for 24hrs.
You may need to do this 2 or 3 times!
Put it in 3/4th gear and rock it back and forth, and it may just free off.
Once its free put some oil down the bores for better lubrication.
Flush out old oil, water and fuel and clean out carb pots.
New oil and filt,plugs,points,fresh fuel.
Before trying to start it,turn it over to check the oil pressure light goes out.
If the clutch is stuck, you maybe able to free it off if you get the hydraulics working first.
Jack up the rear end,and depress clutch pedal and turn over engine or start it if it will!

Good luck.

Hi yes it is that one from eBay, I still cannot beleive how solid it is, I think I've had a bargain! As for he engine I pulled it out today, it wasn't that bad to be honest, I was going to try unseizing it but to be honest I want to keep it so ive pulled it out and I will give it a refresh, shells rings etc, also all the hydraulics need sorting, does anyone know the best place to buy a brake and clutch master cylinder and a clutch slave cylinder ? I need quite a few bits so if anyone has any numbers for reliable and honest parts suppliers I'd be most grateful
Cheers Geoff.

Are you really sure on that H plate? I've just picked up BJD324H, a white 2000TC and an ex-ICI company car..

Edited to say: Ignore me, didn't real the Tobacco bit.

Am guessing they are probably brothers though.. 324 was purchased from Henley's in London, April 1970.

Hi mate, yes I saw the white one on eBay but it was a tad to rough, I had already been and viewed the green one before the end of the auction so I knew what I was bidding on, I did do some checks on that 324h one and yes they were. Both registered in London.i really wanted a sc model and had to be manual. :D

No worries, but she certainly isn't rough. She's had a full respray, but was never full reassembled. The paintwork looks great, just dirty. The tudor webasto is original, and even has the warranty. The TC engine turns over, and the red interior comes with the original rear headrests which are worth the cost of the car alone.

She's a 45,000 mile company chauffeur-driven car, with service history, and worth about £12-1500 in its' current state. She's a seriously good buy, and I'm just glad that I got to her before anyone else ;)

Ahh great it sounds like a worthy project, I'm just on the nostalgia thing and had to have a sc manual, and also I wanted an untouched example, so I'm happy :D looking at your sig it appears you have a fair few Rovers to keep you busy :D

Yeah, will be busy for a long time to come ;)

The 64 and 65 cars are on the road, but both will going through maintenance periods over winter. The 63 and 69 cars are long-term projects.

Keeps me off the streets though!
