Salvage Hunters - Classic Cars - Rover 2200SC

Did anyone on here watch last weeks show where they rejuvenated a black Rover 2200SC ??? If they did, do they know the name of the trader (and contact info??) where Paul Howland purchased the complete sunroof assembly who also had a yard full of P6s and a couple of SD1s ?

Thanks, Adrian.

I was amazed how cheap you sold that Webasto. If you ever have the good fortune to find a factory sunroof, let me know, I narrowly missed out on an electric one recently. I did have a Webasto in my old car but they sacrifice too much refinement for my current car, which spends a lot of time on autobahns.

As for the program itself, I still don't like this pair. They kept saying it was "the right colour" without ever mentioning it was never a factory colour. Similarly that is strong money for a 2200SC but barely a profit at all when you factor in two blokes time in work and travel. Similarly putting in a seam was an odd decision which a few minutes of research might make you reconsider.

As a classic car programme, it's not very satisfactory.
We prefer his salvage show.

I've never seen the salvage show, but have enjoyed the 2 classic car programmes I've watched. Not perfect, but the guys appear to be good friends & the general chit-chat & narrative of these two (that are similar to my age - OK, maybe a bit younger..;)) is enjoyable to watch.

Dare I say I also like Wheeler Dealers with Ant on? Although I appreciate that now being in LA, 'British' cars are less common..

They just don't appear that knowledgeable to me given the experience they claim based on the chat and the background info they give. Not just the P6 but cars I don't own and know far less about. Was the TC dash in place when they had the car or did they fit it? If all the instruments, especially the ammeter work correctly, then that's quite a bit of work.

Some of the very last SC's had round dials I believe. It was a case of using up stock before the end of run from what I've heard.

This was discussed on Facebook and this is apparently said to be not true by those who are in the know. None had round dials from the factory.

It was certainly the most expensive SC that i have ever seen, origonally advertised on Ebay for £8,000 !
How difficult is it to retro fit a round dial dash into into a ribbon dash car ??

It's OK but the resto programmes he's done are better because the experts are given time to show how the work is done and there is less chat, especially from Drew...

One thing, though, I wish Drew would keep his hands on the steering wheel when driving, if he was driving me I'd have asked to get out, he's dangerous. I can see why, in the normal "hunting antiques" programme he has a driver.

I've given up on costings with all these type of programmes, they seem to have a flexible rule when it comes to money, bear in mind though that the TV company will be paying them good money to do them, so a loss in any of them (for them!) is out of the question...

I can't stand Drew's sneary attitude so only watched this one for the P6 content. He doesn't seem to have improved but his sidekick made the programme more bearable. Unfortunately all these shows seem to insist on an annoying presenter countered by a reasonable spannerman.

Bummer it doesn't (yet?) air in The Netherlands. The stuff they did on the Mini and the Jag was quite enjoyable, would like to see a P6. :)

The answers is "not very" but it takes time to get it all to work, especially the ammeter. 8-10 hours I reckon.
