Salvage Hunters - Classic Cars - Rover 2200SC

To be fair, we don't brake cars as a rule, we repair, restore and maintain.
This was a freak unsavable car that I broke up to help others. The price on the telly is just that ;)
I hate most of these type programs, being in the trade all my life but this is the least tedious so far IMO. They at least mention real life figures about paintwork or detailing etc
Surprising how many people have tracked me down via my name (offcom doesn't allow company advertising as such) through Facebook and the net in general. Unfortunately, most want webasto roofs or cheap parts :D

They just don't appear that knowledgeable to me given the experience they claim based on the chat and the background info they give. Not just the P6 but cars I don't own and know far less about. Was the TC dash in place when they had the car or did they fit it? If all the instruments, especially the ammeter work correctly, then that's quite a bit of work.
The dash is definitely factory fitted. As the owner I can compare it to my S2 V8 dash and it’s all definitely the same.

As a classic car programme, it's not very satisfactory.
We prefer his salvage show.
Their aim with some of the cars isn’t to restore them to their classic originality. I asked Drew the same question and his answer was to make them “desirable”. So for a wider audience I suppose.
The main thing is that the car on the whole looks good imo, and although they overlooked a lot of things in the programme, they repaired a lot more than the show detailed. So I struggle to see where the profit was, I think that side of the programme is for telly land only!

There is no way in the world that left the factory with that dash if it is an SC in an SC chassis. No SC did that despite rumours of late SCs being fitted with them which were later debunked, all were swaps. The question was whether they fitted it with the rest of the interior or whether it was retrofitted before. The definitive answer can be had by removing the binnacle and looking at the wiring loom. That instrument panel has two round multiconnectors whereas the strip speedo has Lucar connectors and these would need to be joined somehow. In fact you might be able to look under the bonnet and check the wiring colour to the oil pressure sender which would need to be added.

Another giveaway might be the switch panel in the center. That may/may not have been swapped also. The TC one is illuminated like the V8, the SC one is simpler.

unless the car was originally a TC and had been down graded to an SC then it could be a factory fit dash.

Unlikely anyone would take it that way, though.
not sure, if your not overly worried about performance and like simplicity and have an issue with a cylinder head an sc conversion could make sense,

similarly i bought a 105 P4, the tc head was in the boot and it was fitted with a sc head

A lot of people converted their cars from TC's to SC's.. when the TC head went, or the exhaust manifold died, it was often easier to convert the car than repair it.

Is £200 all a good Webasto is worth? Surprised me.
I charged more than that in real life, as said in my previous post.
They like to look like they get blinding deals everywhere they go, or their figures look even worse ;)

I have a steel roof panel with a sliding steel sunroof section languishing in my garage, just waiting for a P6 afficionado with deep pockets who wants to restore and fit it. I'll take what Harvey sold his for, but be advised the item is currently in Berlin, Germany, so shipping might be pricey. Photos on request. The roof will need a fair amount of tlc to refurbish, but I have seen one done. It was in a considerably poorer state than mine, and was restored to pristine condition by a craftsman not far from here who normally works on Maserati, ISO. Lancia and other cars. Sorry to go off topic!
