S1 vs S2 doorlocks

I've heard the door lock design on S1 cars is different, but when I've seen S1 doors on ebay, the lock design looks the same as my car (1972).
Was it only very early S1s that had a different lock design?
And if they are different, is it easy to fit S2 door locks to S1 doors? I don't want to limit my door search to just S2 doors if I can easily swap over the locks from my doors and drill the holes for the side strips and extra securing stud on the handle.

Pic below shows a Tobacco S1 door (left) and a Cameron S2 door (right)

I think someone meant the door locks, as in the thing you put the key in..
Ohh.... well here's me believing the actual catches were incompatible all these years! Of course, the early locks themselves only persisted for a couple of years at most didn't they?

The early doors didnt gave the anti burst locks, ie the stud.

I got a series 1 front door for a series 2 car and had to cut a bit out then add the anti burst stud.

I think the S2 is recessed so the S1 door even with anti burst parts removed wont close. It was 20 years ago now so my memory may be wrong.

That sounds more like what I dimly remembered from years ago. I knew there was some sort of incompatibility around the catches.

I'd be surprised if that were the case.

I've got a 1970 late series 1 with anti-burst fitted, and have changed the doors to ones from a 64 car that I stripped, and they fit fine.
