S1 and S2 overlap (latest and earliest)...

Hello to you all, just a quick one.

I was wondering what the latest registrations you have seen S1 P6's on and the earliest you have seen S2 P6's on...?

I only ask as I have seen both an S1 and an S2 wearing J-registration plates and thought that would be ruddy late for an S1 (although not overly early for an S2)!

Not the most pressing question I know but one I'd like to know a little bit more about.

Many thanks

Do any S2s have an H plate? Early S2s are also S1s in disguise with the S1 base unit and electrical system.

I'd say that's common, although the Series 2 cars will have the hangovers from the Series 1. IMHO the true series 2 was HIF6 carbs, and I've never seen those as OE on a "J" plate. Before that they looked like a series 2 but it was more of a facelift with the early fusebox, HS6 carbs, and the upstands on the flitch panels.

Thanks for the info' so far, it is appreciated...

I was just thinking that if someone had an S1 on a J-plate they must have got a bit of a saving over having the newer, fresher S2?!
