Rover wonders

Hi. Wondering is my Rover normal (if there is such a Rover). At cruising speeds (60 mph) he wonders slightly I am correcting a little to the left then a little to the right, at it the time. There is about half an inch play on the steering wheel, I adjust it out but it comes back. Also I have had the alignment caster and camber checked and all are as the manual states. My question is would increasing the caster help?
John.

If there is no play in any of the steering joints then you should still have a little bit of play in the steering box. If you adjust that play out and it keeps coming back the the problem is within the box.

If you're taking all the play out of the box it may be just that that is the problem. With all the play gone, the box will tend to wander, and it will wear quicker as well.

i have about 2" of play in steering wheel but it does not wander . that is more often caused by excess play in joints .out of line steering geometry etc . cannot comment on amount of play that ought to be correct ( as from new?)
