Hello. I'm a new owner of a 1970 3500 S in California. Where can I find a sighting tube assembly (part# 571823) for the automatic transmission? The old one broke off during service...
 
Check with Dirk or Steve who have an enormous treasure trove of parts and can consult. On my car the sighting tube assembly has been replaced with a blankng plate. Fluid is checked using the dip stick. What was Rover thinking? Put the car on a lift to check transmission fluid?

Thanks, Jack! Was the dipstick always there or did you have to add one somehow? I don't see one under the hood.
 
Cars with a sight glass didn't have a dipstick and tube fitted. You have to seal the sump where the sight glass was fitted, and then fit a dipstick, tube, and fitting to the RHS of the gearbox main casing
