Rover P6 Fuel Sender Pipes

WANTED: Fuel sender pipes for 2000SC. These are the steel pipes that go from the sender to the main fuel lines. My reserve tank pipe has corrode and is leaking. Unfortunately Richard Woodward doesn't have any available. Am hoping someone is maybe breaking a car and would sell me the pipes or at least one of them. Many thanks in advance, guys.

I have emailed Mark at MGBD Parts and also Geoff at Winns with regard to purchasing a new pipe.

I have added a picture of my sender unit as the ones I have seen on Mark's site and Geoff's site look different to my unit.

Still in need of this pipe if anyone can help me out, please. Geoff at Winns does not stock this part. Many thanks, guys.

I still don't fully understand which parts you refer .
Is it the steel part (Adaptor) that connects the plastic fuel pipe to the tube nuts shown on your sender unit ?

Hi. Yes it is that pipe. Got email from Geoff today to say he doesn't stock that part new or old.

Even if you get those metal parts I can't see how you're going to make a good joint to the plastic pipe, so I think you'll need to change the pipes complete.

The joint to the plastic pipe was fine until I had to disturb it to get the tank out of the car. That's when I notices the top of the steel pipe above the elbow was corroded. I cannot get a plastic pipe to seal high enough above the corrosion on the steel pipe.

Getting the plastic pipe to seal on the metal pipe is the problem. They are one use only, so once it's broken or leaks you have to replace the pipe and fitting as a whole.

As you said, Harvey, I may have to renew the pipe right through. It sure looks like I am not going to be able to get the pipe I need anyway.I recently had to renew the fuel pipe from the tap to the pump and from the pump to the carburettor. :(

The plastic pipe is semi rigid Black PA (Nylon) 12 & I have made my own up with my own steel pipe ends . If heated to about 100 c, the plastic will push onto the steel ends.p6 pipe 001.jpg

I've got some complete fuel lines spare, I'll dig them out tomorrow morning if you're interested?

Yes I have done it with boiling water although a bit higher helps but too much and it melts. As it cools it shrinks and firmly grips the steel pipe. I remember seeing them manufactured at the firm engaged by Rover to make them. For the life of me I cannot recollect its name.
