If it makes the noise with the car stationary and with the clutch down, then it must be something in the engine/flywheel or clutch. If you put the car in gear with the engine running and clutch down whist stationary do you still get the noise? This would eliminate anything from the gearbox as all the gearbox internals would be stationary at this point.
Is there an access hole into the bell housing do you could see if anything is amiss on the clutch?
