Rover 2200SC - MRW 392P

Hello,

Last year I returned to Rover P6 ownership after selling my previous P6 a number of years ago. I had been on the lookout for another P6 for a while and had been to look at a couple of cars when in May last year I spotted what is now my car for sale. The car is a 1976 Rover 2200SC Manual with some history and 62k on the clock. I believe the car spent most of its life in the Bolton area before moving to Dumfries and is now with me in Edinburgh. I am the 6th Owner. The car is in good condition, but has a few niggles which need rectified as I use and enjoy it. I have covered 900 mainly trouble-free miles so far.

The car was registered on 16th January 1976 so it is likely to have been built in 1975. Does anyone know what steps I need to take to move the car to ‘Historic’ tax exempt status?

Below are some photos of the car taken last year.

Does anyone recognise the car?

Chris

Hi Chris

Welcome to the forum. That's a rather nice looking car you have there. A 2200SC that lived in the Falkirk area went down south last year so it's good to see another come back up to Scotland. What part of Edinburgh are you in? This year's Scottish All Rover Rally takes place at Thirlestane Castle near Lauder on Sunday 29th May if you're interested.

I live in the Borders but work just outside Penicuik so my P6 is seen around Edinburgh regularly.

Welcome to the forum, you are in the right place for help and advice.

That is a great looking car, the 2200 is underated. best thing about an SC is only one carb to keep in tune.

Welcome Chris,
That looks a very well cared for car.
The tax exemption may well kick in automatically when you next apply.

Mark.

Thanks everyone.

Dave, I am in South West Edinburgh - Juniper Green area. Thanks, I will definitely put the Scottish All Rover Rally in the diary.

It won't, you need to change the taxation class, then you'll get the exemption. If you don't, DVLA are quite happy for you to keep paying for the RFL when you don't need to.

Gorgeous car! I remember people telling me that they thought they'd seen my P6 in places I hadn't been, and never traced the other mythical local P6. I assume it must have been this one, a few years ago. Looks amazing, and great to see another Scottish member!
