Rover 2000 at MIRA

This "Look at life" film has quite a lot of interesting stuff from about 1964, including from about 2:20 details of wet and dry testing with a white E type FHC at the RRL at Crowthorne . Also at about 7:30 mins is quite a lot of footage of MIRA tests in which the lead car is a 2000 - it fascinated me greatly to see how a Rover 2000 made a TR4 look very much at sea on a rather testing cornering route

Very nice footage there. I love the bit at about 8.23 with the undulations. One of my favourite things about the P6 is it's ability to take speed bumps and judder bars with ease at speed, it's the best time to overtake boy racers in their lowered Hondas! Hilarious!
I like to see them do that test in a modern car, the driver would have to be extracted from the car clutching their shattered spine with one hand and holding their teeth in the other.

The driver of the 2000 in this clip is the legend that is Rob Lyall. The car is one number out from the surviving Copperleaf Earls Court 1964 car (BXC650B).

I will get his story written down for the magazine at some point soon, this man has some incredible tales to tell. :D
