Rostyle stainless steel wheel trim rings

Greetings all, I've recently acquired a set of P6B Rostyles that are structurally sound but in need of refurbishment. I've been down the metal polishing path but there are still a multitude of sins. Re chroming is out of the question so the alternative is DIY chrome wheel re painting. I'm told that aerosol chrome spray paint is a bit like on line dating, what you see is not necessarily what you get.

However on my google searches I've come across stainless steel wheel trim rings made to fit onto MGB/MGC 14" Rostyles. There appear to be none that were/are made for P6B Rostyles. However I would love to be corrected on that. Has anyone fitted these MGB rings to P6B Rostyles ? indeed, do they fit?

Now I know that the MGB rims are 14 x 5J and our P6B's are 14 x 5.5J. The depth of the dished area on the MGB Rostyle rings is 2" and fit right up to the raised spoke section on MGB's. However if I've measured correctly the depth of the P6B Rostyles is 2 1/2 inches. So that would still leave half a inch of nasty stuff showing. Have I got this right. ?

Thoughts, comments, suggestions, would be greatly appreciated.

I can't answer your question but can provide this: I refurbished a set of Rostyle for my mg. Put the rings back on .......the way they hold on is pretty good at screwing up the nice paint job! My thoughts would be to do a good job on the paint and leave it at that. Painted was the standard for MG, the chrome wheels aftermarket, and they used to sell a fancy masking kit to make it a little easier. It had silver and black paint, but not designed to look chrome, just silvery

Thanks Mick for your reply. As I wanted to keep the chrome look I was able to source a set of 14" x 6J stainless steel rims with a 2" depth. from a local supplier. They're from Taiwan, which seems the major supplier of dress trim rings, at least for Australia. They fit perfectly. It's important for anyone interested in going down this path if your P6B Rostyle rims are worse for wear that you make sure the depth is 2" otherwise not all of the rim is covered. And you really have to look around as 90% of the trim rings are 1 and three quarter inch if they're from Taiwan or 2 and a half inch if they're from the USA.
