That sounds more like a clutch fault.

Leaving it in gear won't have caused the problem. It will be the pressure plate stuck. Put it in gear, and with your foot fully on the clutch, operate the starter motor. If the car moves forward, either the clutch hydraulics have failed not allowing the clutch to clear, or the clutch is stuck.

Hi Harvey tried that and it does move forward with clutch pedal down.
So looks like it will need to come out.
it had a new clutch fitted 2k ago but not the cylinder.

Try freeing it off before removing the gearbox. Get the engine up to running temperature, then with the car in gear and your foot on the clutch, crank the starter and once your moving a few goes on and off the throttle normally frees them off. Don't try this if your 20 foot driveway opens out on to a high speed dual carriageway though.... Or anywhere else without loads of room for that matter. I've never had one so stuck I've had to remove the gearbox to free it.

Thanks Harvey . I dont want to make a new opening in the garage so I will get her out on the farm.
will report back

Blimey!
Rather than dropping the jack, just press the clutch down then hit the brakes.

Hi, there lots of different ways of doing it and everyone has their favourite. Mine is
the same as Harvey, If there is room try and get it up into top because that puts most
load on the clutch (they always start slipping in top first) Never taken a box out to free
one.
