ROAD TAX COSTS?

Hello All - Trying to convince my wife of the wisdom of a 3500S as a practical proposition for everyday use. One of my arguments is the benefit of a Tax Exempt vehicle. However, if I have to go for a non Tax Exempt vehicle, what am I looking at in Road Tax costs, now and in the future?
Looking forward to your replies.
Cheers, Geoff.

Hi Geoff.

Heres a good reason or 2!!
Little or no depreciation if you buy right and maintain what you can yourself!!
My ONLY 2 cars are my daily driver 1971 p6v8 auto,and my 1970 TR6.
Both tax exempt, and on a multicar insurance that cost me on last renewal £135 fully comp for both for the year, unlimited mileage, breakdown cover, agreed value of £4k p6 and £12k TR6.
Yes the fuel costs are a little high, but I dont do more than 6k between them annually, and am going to do an LPG on the rover either this winter,or early 09.
Good trips out to classic shows at weekends.8)
They get you noticed and talked about outside tesco or aldi 8)
My last car before the rover was a 1975 Dolly Sprint,I used it everyday for 11 yrs, bought it for £200,sold for £1200,it wasnt tax exempt coz labour went and froze the 25yr rule! :x
Go on!! Do it!! You know it makes sense!!

DAVE

Who with? - mine was £300 and 5,000 miles maximum for one car.

I wouldn't let a good car slip past you just because it's not a free road tax car. If your worried about fuel have you thought about a 4 pot? I can understand the attraction of the v8 but if you're not worried about embarrassing Vauxhall Nova boy racers  then a 4 pot may help the pocket.

My p6 insurance is about £100 the 57 plate car I have is around £300 (mainly for the misses to drive). So it's a winner there already, you 'should' expect similar reduction in insurance. :) Mine is a September 73 car so I missed out, but I don't loose any sleep over it, just wafting about in the old girl is so good. 8)

Give Footman James a call!
Your age and any mods will affect the premium, and what policy type they will give you!
And make sure you tell the truth,as if you dont the policy will be void if you have a prang!!
