Return from LeMans Oil Pressure Gauge to fit.

Hello All,

I have just driven to the Le Mans Classic and back round trip of 800 miles, car was absolutely faultless but as mentioned previously I feel like I get a slight clank on the motorway, no issues on the journey and maybe I am imagining it but I would like to fit an oil pressure gauge. I have bought a kit and a tee piece and will fit this weekend. My question is what is a healthy oil pressure?

Also I’m not sure whether the oil light is taking a tiny bit longer to go off on start up, I have the correct oil filter with the non return set up but open to suggestions, although guessing the gauge will tell me more…..

4cyl TC oil pressure gauges go from zero to 100psi, so if you’re fitting an aftermarket gauge it needs to be able to read high enough. Anything below 50psi isn’t too good. It should be around 75psi at speed. Rover P6 4cyl engines run much higher oil pressures than normal.

Thanks Tom, I’ve had the car 11 years without one….put it off as it will be another gauge to worry about in road trips!

My 2000s always took a few seconds for the oil light to go out on a cold start. At one time in Oz it became difficult to find the correct oil filter with a non-return valve - usually an AC badged unit. One Friday somebody told me (and others) there might be some at a Sunday market - turned out the guy had a complete case of filters.....and we bought the lot! Kept several of us in filters for a few years.
Anyway, I suggest you experiment with different makes of non-return filters an see if there are different oil light times.
