I'm moving things forward on a number of fronts, here is the start of the new braking system, using P4 disks and calipers at the front, Porsche 912 dual circuit master cylinder , and a Spanish made dual circuit servo.

Dont forget an overdrive ! They are superb on a 90 or later. I had one on a P3 gearbox in a 50 model with a 90 motor. I think the extension that mated the freewheel would fit the overdrive.

Hi JP, funny thing is I looked at all kinds of alternative gearboxes, 5 speed manuals, and even flirted with autos for a while. But at the end of the day, I really like driving with an electric overdrive, especially with a kickdown! So in the end I settled on a short stick P5 3 ltr box with overdrive :) I went for the short stick box, as i want it to look like an early Gethins floor change conversion at a glance

Excellent choice, should be a joy to drive. I found that if you feather the throttle a touch when engaging OD the change was pretty much imperceptible. Drove long distances just kicking OD in and out as needed.

Ninety Niner, that's going to be a great ride when you finish. Quality work going on there. Dashboard looks excellent. The louvered bonnet looks good too. What car are the adjustable mirrors from? What colour will you be getting your rod painted?

Thanks. Mirrors are early Rolls Royce Shadow 1. Hard to come by, especially the nearside, as only factory fitted to driver side. Also usually hideously expensive, so much patience required to get both at a reasonable price! :) I need to source or make one toggle adjuster - one of the reasons one was cheap! Car will probably be a period solid light grey. Interior is somewhat custom in wine red leather and I'm fitting a Webasto roof that will be wine red mohair.

Thanks chaps. Back on it in a cpl of weeks time. Gotta move in to a semi derelict house next week. Working my ass off trying to get electric on, toilet fitted etc before then! At least the roof is water tight now :)
