removing a wing side strip

Is there an easy way of removing a rear wing side strip (chrome/stainless) without fubaring it? I will be removing my r/n/s one as the wing has a bit of micro blistering and therefore wants painting. I dont want to end up with a strip of dented and kinked trim.
Cheers.

I actually partially removed one on a door by catching my trouser leg on one end! I panicked thinking I'd damaged it but it simply slide back onto the clips, so I'm not sure of a correct way but I'm sure you can just slide them off the clips. I would imagine if you prised it off it may get kinked and possibly scratch the paint.

hi john,
they are easily removable, by either a small screwdriver or equivalent behind them. start at one end and gently move along and the strip will spring off of the trim clips. you will need new trim clips.

So if you lend John your trousers and he walks by it then , Does it mention it in the manual :?:

Thanks all, sounds like a piece of flat plastic to prevent scratching and then a bit of leverage from a small screwdriver to start off. I like the trouser idea but fear that might be an aquired skill. (But just in case I need to borrow your trousers Mike, I wear 36"x36" strides, will yours fit?)
Ian, I take it with the old clips, I knock the centres through then they fall off? I have about 100 new clips aquired from my local factors for free

Mine will be a perfect fit, send me your address I get them in the post ASAP

I've always found that it's best if you push the top down with one hand, only gently, then prise them off carefully from underneath, it helps them to pop free.

I have never used new clips unless I break them which is very rare
