removal of body panels

hi all got a few jobs that need doing but being new to p6 ownership i was hoping those in the know could help.

1. the rear scuttle panel by boot lid, i noticed a puddle of water by the boot hinge then noticed the seal has a big gap either side, but the middle of the seal sits firmly against the rear window, is this a design fault or has somebody fitted an after market seal at some stage, if the later are there ones out there that are proven to fit better. how would i go about removing the scuttle panel so that i can get a good coating of wax oil under there.
2. the car has had a repair done to the rear door at some stage however they did not shape the bottom correctly,i can put this right but when done i would like to lower the front door to get a better gap between the panels, how would i go about adjusting the height of the door, thanks in advance wayne

Hi Wayne, I have removed every panel and repainted them in my shed and refitted them on my series 1 v8.
They are easy to remove (including the doors) just taking care when removing panels (like the rear deck panel) so as not to lose paint as little room is available for manevouring.
I'm no painter/mech. but was impressed, if i so myself, of the job i did.
My rubber seal needs replacing but serviceable, it sits hard up against the window all the way around. You can purchase new rubber seal from Wins International too. Well they are listed so check stock.
It doesn't stop water, just debris, from collecting underneath and water should run down the sides of the boot to the ground. I cant tell you why water is pooling there though
if i remember rightly you have to undo the pipe/petrol cap assy inside the boot and the screws from under the cap and remove it and then unbolt the panel from the chassis of the car (bolts under the panel)
If the petrol cap to chassis gaitor is split, repair or better still, replace so as water wont enter the boot and rot your carpet upon reassembly.
When i removed my panel i took the opportunity to clean and repaint under the panel to tidy it up.
I aslo lube the hinge/spring assy too.
The doors are easy to remove or adjust as the hinges incorporate bolts that can be wound in or out to adjust height settings.
Shim are used under the hinges themselves for adjusting the doors to be flush with the body.
As i said I'm no expert so someone else may add something ive missed.
