Hello,

I've got a fairly loud rattle when the rear suspension becomes unloaded and drops into a bump.

Its a fairly thin sounding rattle, not a heavy clonk.... like a thin piece of metal rattling around on something

I Cant spot anything obvious...

To me it sounds more like n/s/r

Any ideas from that fantastic description?

The rubbers can disintegrate altogether and that allows the dished washers to rattle on the pin.

I've just realised this is a V8, with those the nylon sleeve through the rubbers wears away and the pin rattles about in the lower mounting plate.
I've also seen V8/2200 cars fitted with 2000 rubbers which also causes problems.

Hi there,
I had an annoying noise coming from the passenger side, and replaced the front shocker rubber bushes , because of advice on here that
it is a common problem with wear and the retaining split pin , inserted into the wrong hole. The noise was still there after the new bushes fitted. It was difficult to actually locate the
sound when driving.
Eventually found the cause, by chance...found that the rear P/S disk brake caliper was loose on its mounting bolt and moving over every bump . Tightened
the bolt and mystery sound of many months had vanished...
