Rear outer wheel bearings - plug at top of housing

On the rear outer wheel bearing housing is a gasketed plug towards the top. I found clean wheel bearing grease inside after removing the plug. Is there a way to refresh the lubricant thru the plug. or must the assembly be taken apart for replacing the grease. Nothing in repair manual I could find supports this.
thanx....

There is a plug shown on page 153 of the Haynes manual. I have replaced bearings in the hub and you can insert grease as you suggest. Why don't you pick up a couple of grease nipples and see if you can fit them without forcing. I'd be worried about the Imperial and Metric connection so take care :(

The bearings are preloaded with a crushable sleeve. You don't really want to remove bearings, locate some sleeves and reinstall them with the correct preload unless you really have to.

Be sure to use high temperature bearing grease!!

thanks... I will try that, fortunately the grease looks great, but I would like to put some fresh 'on top of it'. Perhaps I could fit a grease fittng into the plug itself?
