right looking for new bushes wins have got some on ebay and part number 548959 but in the parts boot it list to numbers 548959 and 569512 to different sizes any ideas any 1

Hi Gareth,

There are two different rear bushes for the trailing arms (lower links) as there are two distinct pairs of arms. My understanding is that series one cars had the smaller diameter bushes...563512, whilst series 2 cars had the larger diameter bushes....548595. Now the strange this is, the parts book only lists one pair of arms, which are for the series 2 cars.

You'll need to measure the diameter of the bushes in your arms,...if they are just over 1" then you'll need 563512, whilst if they are 1 7/8", then you'll need 548595.

i thought rear arms with the same on the v8 series 1 and series 2 ummm yea will have to have a better look at them once i got the front of the jack

hi ron i emailed wins and geoff said They are the same bush, the number just got superseded what ever that mean

Hi Gareth,

To supersede means to replace with or to take the place of. There were two different bushes at some point as two different diameters are given, but if the smaller in diameter is NLA, then you'll need to purchase the larger ones. From your photo, to me they look like the larger ones, so unless you take some measurements to be sure, you'll have to take a gamble and buy the ones in stock.

Hi Gareth,

You will find it tricky to extract the old bushes as these will be nicely bedded in with probably a bit of light corrosion to hold them in nicely.

I invested in a 10 tonne press, which is currently in the custody of Mark Gray for when the club was actively changing member's bushes at the restoration shows. (Don't worry Mark I am not in a panic yet to have it back  ).

Best bit of kit for the job IMHO. Saves the inhalation of carcinogenic rubber fumes when trying to 'burn' the old bushes out and cutting/hitting one's thumb with a hacksaw/hammer/chisel/screwdriver when trying to extract the sleeve after burning the rubber out.

As you will need to take the trailing arms off to do the lower bushes on the rear trailing arms, you may as well go for broke and do the front ones on the rear trailing arms and also the ones between the rear crossmember and the body. And the upper links and watts linkage rubber (if you haven't done so already). It will transform the ride and handling.

yea i will be doing the front bushes as well my m8 got a garage with a big press so will use that to get the old 1's out will have to look at the crossmember bushes to see what they are like the top link bushes do seam to be ok think i got spare bushes there but could do them at a later date. i got brand new toplinks for the 2000 so might sell them on and get v8 ones

right guys been to have a look at my spare bush i got but got a different number on it 13 1535 i know its a p6 part but kind of confused now any 1 got any ideas

Hi Gareth,

Oh that's good, so you can order some replacements then. The bush that you have with part number 131535 is not listed in the V8 parts catalogue, so it could be a 4 pot part or maybe for a different car altogether.

yea it came with loads of rover p6 parts it looks like a p6 rear bush so sunday i made a bit of wire up to the outer diameter of mth bush so sunday will try it on to the spare i got to make sure if its the same only need to get 1 but as least i know were i stand now :D
