On the last stage of rebuilding a 3500S and have completely overhauled brake system but find I have run up rear brakes too much. I've managed to wrestel with the nearside and been able to adjust this without needing special brake tool but offside refuses to budge. Can anybody help and provide an adjuster tool for sale /loan.
Ideally trying to make the Scottish All Rover show in May.
I'm in Edinburgh and can be contacted by email or on 0131 620 0256
Thanks Mike

You should be able to turn the 'cup' by hand with the help of a screwdriver etc, so it may be that the cup assembly (the "piston" that pushes on the pads) is not moving freely.

When you overhauled the brakes did you refurbish the calipers & did you clean & grease the cup assembly when putting it back together?

One side of mine was a bit tighter than the other after I'd overhauled them, but they work fine.

Phil,
Thanks very much for your helpful reply. I think I did rebuild as you have advised (car has been sitting a while since though) and will try out your suggested action.

Mike,

I have done these loads of times, once I did use the special tool but found it only a little bit useful.

As Phil Said you can use a screw driver to turn it, I used a long reach one, there is a hole near the end which you can get the tip into.

You will probably only need a turn or two. You might find the the "Cup" has some corrosion and is sticking to the seal. When the brake is operated either by fluid or handbrake does the "cup" move out? If not this could be a problem.

Worse case just remove the half shaft and disc which will let you get into it.
