Re: Project....Northern Soul

This thread is filled with Epic Win.

Those wheels..... you read my mind. We had a company in Australia make a very similar wheel (Aunger was the company, the name of the wheel escapes me). I was looking for a set for my car but couldn't find any in a suitable offset.

Re: Project....Northern Soul

That carbon effect is looking very tidy Raymondo, will compliment the finished project. I call it progressive old school

Re: Project....Northern Soul

that WOOLIES SPRAY PAINT is good for a colour change...can be used on leather it says, ( i have not tested it for this! ) it goes on to say .....but you may loose' 'breathability' !...

only drawback it seems now is....you have to purchase 4 x 400ml cans!!!!!....at £20 plus pounds each ....ouch! still you would need that many to do front and back seats.....and against a re-upholster, quite a bargain!

photo shows from faded red to nice green shade!

Re: Project....Northern Soul

......when the seats / trim removed...looked probably like the day it left the factory !

I believe the first owner of many years kept it under the house in a garage where there was a heating boiler, as i do not think there is a hole in it, if i spot anything i will take a photo.

Re: Project....Northern Soul

I really like the interior work you've done there. Well in keeping with what the team at the Rover Co would have done had they been working today. I also like the wing flair. But I'm not quite so sure about the 1/4 panel. I can't think of a good us for the captured air, so it upsets my engineers functionality requirement1 All in all, really excellent work.

I see what you've done with the suspension arm. That isn't the weak component in the back suspension though. The weak point is where the upper, rear facing, arm attaches to the de dion elbow. The two flanges on the elbow that the bar bolts between need to be double plated - they corrode and drop away leaving the entire suspension on the floor! Also, make quite sure that the mountings for that bar against the boot side are strong from both sides.

Re: Project....Northern Soul

hi chris.....your comments are sound and welcome.....it means you are building it alongside me in your head !!!

the air intake is functional, more of this later!....but the main function is for visual looks, it fills in the line from the flare to the roof, otherwise the roof looks narrow from the rear view, i am sure you follow, which in itself wasnt too bad, because it probably made the body look fatter, but i had an idea for the vents so i made some.....in fact the first things i made.....how strange is that then!.......i just like fabrication!!! :)

yes i have plated and modified the components you mentioned after reading many blogs, didnt post pics simply because youve seen this done many times and not as interesting as body mods.

with the 2 foot long arms having suffered many earlier british winters with salt, they didnt feel 'weighty' components, as all the rear weight of the car is trying its best to break them in two via the spring !!...its a piece of mind thing. :)

Re: Project....Northern Soul

....other parts being messed with....coz I didnt like how rover didnt align the wing to the rear skirt.....the smaller section on the right of the skirt, is to become part of the rear wing !
