Power steering hose installation

The PAS hoses on my 1970 3500S were leaking, so I got a new set from JR Wadhams. The high-pressure hose is fine. The low-pressure hoses are made of a (reinforced) material that is so stiff that I cannot get it onto the nipples. It will not stretch over the lip. I have struggled with this for about a week. Any suggestions?

At the stage you're at is it possible to soak the ends in warm water? Or another method of locally warming up the hose and keeping the metal fitting cool. This weather certainly won't be helping
Have you been using a smear of ATF on the metal to help things along?

I would heat the hose end with a heat gun or blow dryer or used boiling water. However, I'd soak the hose with caution, just in case some wicks into the reinforcement layers. You can also cut a small chamfer on the inside lip of the hose, no more than an eighth inch.
