Power for radio

Hi, any body know the fuse that protects the original power for the radio? I guess they are all the same? Mine needs the ignition on to operate, position 2 on the key. Just in case it matters I have a 73 2000 SC. Thanks.

Pretty sure originally the radio could be turned on without the need to move the ignition to pos 2. That being the case, would seem likely that yours has been changed.

For the 3500 and 3500S, the pickup was before the 25 amp fuse for the windscreen wiper motor.

All I really need to do I guess is keep pulling each fuse out until the radio goes off, however I will start with the wiper motor fuse. Thanks.

My car, which has the original radio fitted needs to have the key turned to position 2. What is that position for if not to have the radio on without switching on the ignition? The radio supply should be taken from the unfused side of fuse 23-24, which is the 15 amp fuse supplying the heater motor and should have its own in-line fuse. Pulling the fuses out will not therefore be the solution, you will need to trace the supply to the radio and find the in-line fuse, they are normally adjacent to the radio. If a modern radio has been fitted, then there has to be a permanent supply to maintain the memory. If it is supplied from the wiper supply then the switch would have to be in the "run" position.
